Yesterday at the QF’s Virtual Awards Ceremony and Innovation Showcase, our team received the prestigious “Distinguished Inventor of the Year 2020” !

Description of the award states: 

The Distinguished Inventor of the Year Award goes to the most prolific inventor of patentable subject matter with the highest level of development, marketability, and licensability of all inventions reported to the IDKT between 1 January 2018 to 30 June 2020. It also takes into account the combination of the past activity for the Creator over the time they have been with Qatar Foundation. Inventive works may be in the form of a process, machine, manufacture, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof. A patent signifies that the invention is state-of-the-art.

Dr. Elbashir has 5 active inventions in the last two years, and this is only a small example of his excellence since he joined TAMUQ. He established and led several unique global research collaboration models between academia and industry with research funding exceeds multi-million dollars. He holds several U.S. and European patents and numerous scientific publications in the form of peer-reviewed journal articles, books and book chapters, conference papers, and industry technical reports. He received several awards and recognitions for his research activities from Qatar Foundation, BASF Corp, Texas A&M University, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Shell, ORYX GTL Co., and others. Dr. Elbashir trained a large number of postdoctoral, Ph.D., master students, and undergraduate students and served as a visiting professor in multiple universities around the globe.
