Moiz Bohra and Asma Sadia (undergraduate research students of Dr. Elbashir team) published the first TAMUQ research paper in “The Exploration”, a highly selective journal of Texas A&M University about undergraduate students’ successful research activities. The paper entitled “Synthetic Jet Fuels Produced from Natural Gas” 2013, volume 5, pp. 11-12. Moiz Bohra and Asma Sadia article was the first contribution of Texas A&M at Qatar in this publication. Explorations is aimed at highlighting success stories of the research experience of undergraduate students. Over 300 abstracts were submitted, with only 12 selected for publication. Bohra and Sadia worked under the supervision of Dr. Nimir Elbashir, associate professor of chemical engineering. Bohra continued his activities in developing 3D visualization models to identify optimum composition of synthetic jet fuels obtained from natural gas via gas-to-liquid technology. The uniqueness of their contribution is that they participated in three different phases of this research work composed of the experimental campaign, the statistical analysis and the development of visualization models. This research work funded by UREP and Shell. Bohra recently presented their latest findings at the American Institution of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) annual meeting in San Francisco.
